When Painting and Sculpture Enter into Conversation

At the Altomünster Museum, two independent artistic positions from Poland and Bavaria meet with Remigiusz Dulko and Fabian Oppolzer. The exhibition Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue connects expressive bronze sculptures with pictorial worlds, opening new perspectives on material, body, color, and memory.

Bronze between Body, Spirituality, and Memory

The Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko from Oświęcim studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and graduated with honors in 1979. For decades, he has been intensely working with bronze and accompanies the creation process of his works from the initial idea to final refinement.

His figurative sculptures navigate between the sacred and the everyday. Human relationships, sensuality, spirituality, and memory condense into plastic forms that appear simultaneously heavy and fluid, resistant and sensual. In the examination of the work, bronze becomes a living material, with surfaces that absorb light and anchor the bodies in space.

Fabian Oppolzer: Painting with Literary Sensitivity

Fabian Oppolzer works as a painter, musician, and writer in the region. His painting combines observed reality with imaginative and dreamlike pictorial worlds. Figures, color fields, and narrative hints open an atmospheric space between memory, fantasy, and present.

In dialogue with Dulko, exciting transitions emerge between surface and volume, color and shadow, inner imagination and physical presence. The curation does not simply juxtapose the works but allows them to respond to one another, making the different expressive possibilities of painting and sculpture visible.

Art as a Transcultural Dialogue

The exhibition also has a cultural-historical dimension. Remigiusz Dulko comes from Oświęcim, the Polish partner district of the Dachau district, while Fabian Oppolzer works in Aichach. Their meeting continues the connection of both regions in art and shows how cultural education arises through direct seeing, comparing, and conversation.

The exhibition atmosphere at the Altomünster Museum invites concentrated aesthetic experience. Visitors experience the interplay of light, material, color, and spatial effect and can view the works from an art-historical, sensual, and societal perspective. Additionally, a film about the relay run from Dachau to Auschwitz will be shown in the context of the exhibition, expanding the thoughts of remembrance and reconciliation.

Art Experience at the Altomünster Museum

The special exhibition runs from September 27, 2026, to January 17, 2027. The museum is open Thursdays to Saturdays from 1 PM to 4 PM, Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM, and on holidays from 1 PM to 4 PM. Admission costs 2.50 euros per person; children up to 14 years enter the exhibition for free.

Conclusion: Two Artistic Languages, One Common Resonance Space

Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue promises a multifaceted art experience between bronze, color, figure, and imagination. The exhibition connects contemporary art with cultural encounters and invites the audience to experience the effect of material, space, and memory directly. Art enthusiasts should definitely visit this special exhibition at the Altomünster Museum in person.
