When Painting and Sculpture Engage in Conversation
At the Museum Altomünster, from September 27, 2026, to January 17, 2027, the works of Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko from Oświęcim/Auschwitz and Aichach painter and writer Fabian Oppolzer meet. The exhibition Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue makes visible how different artistic media open new perspectives and transcend cultural boundaries.
An Artistic Experience Between Bronze, Color, and Space
The exhibition title precisely describes the curatorial principle: Painting and sculpture do not act as opposites, but as complementary forms of expression. In the contemplation of the works, plastic bodies, surfaces, and volumes meet painterly color tones, lines, and open image spaces. The exhibition atmosphere emerges from this interplay of spatial presence and poetic openness.
Remigiusz Dulko: Bronze as Condensed Form
Remigiusz Dulko works primarily as a sculptor with bronze and controls the development process of his works from design to final processing himself. His sculptures combine craftsmanship precision with an expressive plastic language. The aesthetic experience of his works develops through material, weight, surface, and the relationship between body and emptiness.
Fabian Oppolzer: Painting Between Perception and Memory
Fabian Oppolzer works as a painter and writer. His images create the painterly resonance space within the exhibition for Dulko. Color, composition, and drawing elements open an access to perception, memory, and inner imagery. Thus, a concentrated encounter of two artistic handwritings emerges.
Art as a German-Polish Dialogue
The exhibition is also a symbol of the district partnership between Dachau and Oświęcim/Auschwitz. Two artists from different cultural contexts enter into a dialogue that goes beyond art history. The curation connects contemporary art, cultural education, and historical responsibility. Art appears as an independent language that enables encounters, poses questions, and creates new forms of understanding.
Visit to the Museum Altomünster
The museum is open Thursday to Saturday from 1 PM to 4 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM. Admission is 2.50 Euros per person; children up to 14 years visit the museum for free. The exhibition can be connected with the permanent exhibition on the Altomünster Monastery and the Bridgettine Order.
This artistic experience leads from the sensual impact of bronze to the atmospheric power of painting and opens an immersive contemplation of form, material, history, and dialogue. Those who wish to experience the aesthetic experience of this exhibition directly should take the time for a visit to the Museum Altomünster.
