When Painting and Sculpture Engage in Dialogue
The Museum Altomünster presents Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue, a German-Polish exhibition where the bronze sculptures of Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko meet the paintings of Aichach artist, writer, and musician Fabian Oppolzer. Until January 17, 2027, a concentrated art space is created between color, form, material, and cultural memory.
Bronze between Body, Spirituality, and Memory
Remigiusz Dulko comes from Oświęcim/Auschwitz and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where he graduated with honors in sculpture in 1979. For more than four decades, he has been working with bronze and accompanies the creation process of his works from the first idea to the final touches.
His figurative sculptures revolve around human relationships, sensuality, spirituality, and the tension between the sacred and the everyday. In the contemplation of his work, bronze unfolds a special presence: heaviness and dynamism, resistance and sensual surface enter into a tense relationship. Light glides over the plastic forms and changes their impact in space.
Fabian Oppolzer: Painting between Reality and Imagination
Fabian Oppolzer, born in 1984 in Stuttgart, studied history, theology, and comparative literature in Vienna. Since 2012, he has been working as a freelance writer and since 2017 also as a visual artist. His painting and graphics combine realistic portraits with imaginative, dream-like worlds.
Oppolzer's images open an atmospheric space between observation and inner imagination. Color areas, figures, and narrative motifs shift familiar realities into the poetic. For his artistic work, he has received, among other awards, the Audience Award of the Aichach Art Prize 2022.
Dialogue as a Curatorial Principle
The exhibition does not present painting and sculpture as opposites, but as corresponding forms of expression. The spatial presence of bronze meets the color and imagery of painting. Forms relate to surfaces, bodies to imagination, and materiality to narrative openness.
This dialogue also has a cultural-historical dimension. Dulko comes from Oświęcim, the Polish partner district of Dachau, while Oppolzer is closely connected to the Aichach region. The exhibition continues the connection between both regions in an aesthetic experience and shows how art transcends linguistic and cultural boundaries.
Art Experience at the Museum Altomünster
The exhibition atmosphere thrives on the interplay between flat painting and three-dimensional sculpture. Visitors experience how light reacts to bronze, how bodies structure space, and how painterly imagery generates emotional resonances. Cultural education emerges here through direct seeing, comparing, and conversation in front of the originals.
The Museum Altomünster is open from Thursday to Saturday from 1 PM to 4 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM. On holidays, the opening hours are from 1 PM to 4 PM. Admission is 2.50 euros per person; children up to 14 years visit the exhibition free of charge.
Conclusion: Two Artistic Languages, One Shared Resonance Space
Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue promises a multi-layered art experience between bronze, color, form, and imagination. The exhibition connects contemporary art with cultural encounter and invites you to experience the impact of material, space, and memory directly. Those who want to not only view art but experience it in its sensory and societal depth should visit this exhibition live at the Museum Altomünster.
