When Painting and Sculpture Come Together
In the Museum Altomünster, the bronze sculptures of the Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko from Oświęcim meet the paintings of the Aichach artist and writer Fabian Oppolzer. The exhibition Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue opens an atmospheric resonance space between color, body, material, and memory.
Bronze as a Language of Body and Memory
Remigiusz Dulko, born in 1955 in Lidzbark Warmiński, studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and graduated with honors in 1979. Since the beginning of his professional career, he has worked with bronze and accompanies the creation process of his works from design to final processing.
His figurative sculptures revolve around human relationships, sensuality, spirituality, and the connection of the sacred and the everyday. In the examination of the works, bronze unfolds a special presence: weight and movement, resistance and sensual surface enter into a tense relationship. Body, volume, and light change with every step through the exhibition space.
Fabian Oppolzer: Painting Between Reality and Imagination
Fabian Oppolzer works as a painter, musician, and writer. His painting and graphics combine realistic portraits with imaginative, dream-like imagery. Familiar figures, landscapes, and narrative motifs appear in a poetic shift that oscillates between observation, memory, and fantasy.
Oppolzer's images form a painterly counterpoint to Dulko's sculptural language. Color fields, lines, and pictorial rhythm collide with volume, surface, and spatial presence. It is precisely in this transition between two-dimensional depth and tangible form that the aesthetic experience of the exhibition arises.
Art as a Cultural Bridge
The exhibition has a special cultural-historical dimension. Remigiusz Dulko comes from Oświęcim, or Auschwitz, while Fabian Oppolzer hails from the Aichach region. Their joint presentation connects to the partnership between Dachau district and Oświęcim and continues the German-Polish exchange in the field of art.
Curating here is experienced as an invitation to see, compare, and converse. Painting and sculpture do not appear as separate genres but as independent artistic languages that expand each other. Cultural education arises directly in front of the originals: through the perception of color, material, spatial effect, and physicality.
Art Experience at the Museum Altomünster
The Museum Altomünster, with its calm, focused atmosphere, provides a fitting framework for the exhibition. Visitors experience the transition between flat painting and three-dimensional sculpture, observe the reaction of light on bronze, and discover different approaches to form, memory, and human closeness.
The special exhibition can be seen from September 27, 2026, to January 17, 2027. The museum opens from Thursday to Saturday from 1 to 4 PM and on Sundays from 1 to 5 PM. Admission costs 2.50 euros per person; children up to 14 years old visit the exhibition free of charge.
Conclusion: Two Artistic Languages, One Shared Resonance Space
Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue promises a multifaceted art experience between bronze, color, figure, and imagination. The exhibition connects art-historical considerations with sensual perception, making visible how art transcends cultural boundaries. A visit to the Museum Altomünster opens new perspectives on material, memory, and the dialogue between people and cultures.
