When painting and sculpture engage in conversation
At the Museum Altomünster, the bronze sculptures of Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko from Oświęcim meet the paintings of Aichach artist and writer Fabian Oppolzer. The exhibition connects two independent artistic positions into a compelling art experience about color, form, material, memory, and cultural encounter.
A dialogue between surface, body, and space
The exhibition title also describes the curatorial principle: painting and sculpture do not stand isolated next to each other but react to one another. Color fields, lines, and compositions encounter the spatial presence of bronze, volume, and surface. In the contemplation of the works, an aesthetic experience emerges that sharpens the eye for proportion, materiality, light, and movement.
The exhibition atmosphere thrives on concentrated contrasts. Where painting opens inner spaces and works with color sounds, sculpture sets physical accents. The juxtaposition invites viewers to experience perception as an active process and to consider contemporary art from different perspectives.
Remigiusz Dulko: Bronze between body, spirituality, and memory
Remigiusz Dulko, born in 1955 in Lidzbark Warmiński, studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, graduating with honors in 1979. For more than four decades, he has been working with bronze and accompanies the creation process of his works from the first idea through to the final refinement.
His figurative sculptures revolve around human relationships, sensuality, spirituality, and the tension between the sacred and the everyday. The bronze combines heaviness and mobility, resistance, and sensual surface. In the immediate encounter, it becomes clear how plastic form not only reflects thoughts but also anchors them physically in space.
Fabian Oppolzer: Painting with literary sensitivity
Fabian Oppolzer is rooted in the region as a painter, musician, and writer. His painting and graphics combine realistic portraits with imaginative, dreamlike image worlds in which the familiar experiences a poetic shift. Color fields, figures, and narrative image motifs open an atmospheric space between observation, memory, and fantasy.
For the exhibition, Oppolzer's images are consciously coordinated with Dulko's bronze sculptures. This creates not just a mere juxtaposition but a curated encounter in which colors, forms, and atmospheres respond to one another. Color sound and image rhythm engage in relation to corporeality, volume, and material.
Art as a transboundary dialogue
The exhibition is under the sign of the partnership between the districts of Dachau and Oświęcim. Two artists from different cultural contexts enter into an artistic dialogue that takes up historical connections and translates them into a contemporary form. Cultural education arises here through direct viewing, comparing, and conversation in front of the originals.
The Museum Altomünster connects the special exhibition with its own contemplative atmosphere. Between painting, sculpture, and the history of the former monastery, a quiet resonance space emerges for concentrated examination of the works. Light, shadow, bronze surfaces, and painterly image spaces unfold their effect especially in personal encounters.
