When Painting and Sculpture Come Together in Conversation
At the Museum Altomünster, the bronze sculptures of the Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko will meet the paintings of the artist, musician, and writer Fabian Oppolzer from Aichach starting from September 27, 2026. The exhibition Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue connects two artistic positions from different cultural backgrounds and makes visible how art creates communication across linguistic, historical, and cultural boundaries.
Bronze between Body, Memory, and Spirituality
Remigiusz Dulko, born in 1955 in Lidzbark Warmiński, studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and graduated with honors in 1979. For more than four decades, he has worked with bronze, using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. His figurative sculptures revolve around human relationships, memory, sensuality, and spirituality. This creates a compelling proximity between the sacred and the everyday.
Painting as an Independent Voice
Fabian Oppolzer stands as a painter and writer for a versatile artistic practice. His images appear in the exhibition not merely as accompaniment to the sculptures, but as an independent position. In interaction with Dulko's bronze sculptures, an open resonance space arises where color, surface, volume, and materiality react to one another.
Art as Cultural Dialogue
The exhibition simultaneously symbolizes the partnership between the district of Dachau and the district of Oświęcim, also known as Auschwitz. Two artists from historically intertwined regions bring their works into direct dialogue. The curation directs attention to the connective power of art and to the ability of painting and sculpture to express experiences for which words alone are insufficient.
An Exhibition for Concentrated Artwork Observation
The exhibition atmosphere in the Museum Altomünster invites for a calm aesthetic experience. Visitors will experience the contrast between the physical presence of the bronze and the visual effect of the paintings. Forms, surfaces, light, and space gain significance in the immediate encounter. This art experience thus opens different approaches: art history-interested guests discover questions about material and expression, while cultural education makes the dialogue between people, places, and memories tangible.
Conclusion: Art Connects Across Boundaries
Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue promises an exhibition that not only presents works, but enables encounters. The combination of figurative bronze sculpture, contemporary painting, and the German-Polish cultural context makes the visit an inspiring artwork observation. Art enthusiasts should experience this exhibition live to perceive the spatial effect, material, and the quiet intensity of the works directly.
