When painting and sculpture come into conversation
At the Museum Altomünster, from September 27, 2026 to January 17, 2027, the works of the Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko and the painter and writer from Aichach, Fabian Oppolzer, meet. The exhibition Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue opens a cultural and artistic exchange across national borders.
Bronze between memory, spirituality, and everyday life
Remigiusz Dulko, born in 1955 in Lidzbark Warmiński and trained in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, has been working with bronze for over four decades. His figurative sculptures are created using the traditional lost-wax casting process and focus on human relationships, memory, spirituality, and sensuality. In the Museum Altomünster, the bronze works unfold their physical presence between light, surface, and space.
Fabian Oppolzer's painting as a counterpart
The painting of Fabian Oppolzer does not appear in isolation but reacts to the plastic language of Dulko. Colors, shapes, and picture spaces form a visual counterpart to the three-dimensional works. Thus, a viewing of the works emerges in which surface and body, line and volume, proximity and distance enter into an open dialogue.
Art as a bridge between Dachau and Auschwitz
The exhibition also possesses a special cultural-historical dimension. Remigiusz Dulko lives and works in Oświęcim, the Polish Auschwitz, while Fabian Oppolzer hails from the Aichach region. Their joint presentation draws on the partnership between the districts of Dachau and Oświęcim and demonstrates how art can promote understanding, cultural education, and historical encounter.
An art experience at the Museum Altomünster
The exhibition atmosphere merges the contemplative mood of the museum with concentrated contemporary art. Visitors experience materials, surfaces, and spatial effects up close. Especially the connection between painting and sculpture invites an aesthetic experience that goes beyond mere observation and opens new perspectives on human encounter.
Conclusion: Dialogues that reach beyond the image
Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue promises a compelling exhibition at the intersection of contemporary art, German-Polish understanding, and art historical reflection. Those who want to experience the effects of bronze, color, and space live should not miss this special showcase at the Museum Altomünster.
