When Color and Bronze Start a Conversation

At the Altomünster Museum, from September 27, 2026, two artistic positions from Germany and Poland meet: the painting of Aichach artist and writer Fabian Oppolzer encounters the sculptures of Polish sculptor Remigiusz Dulko from Oświęcim or Auschwitz. The exhibition Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue opens a sensual and historically aware space for work observation, cultural encounter, and aesthetic experience.

Between Picture Surface and Spatial Presence

The exhibition poses two different media in a tension-filled relationship. Oppolzer's paintings develop their effect from color, composition, and poetic openness, while Dulko's sculptures resonate through volume, materiality, and their presence in space. An art experience arises in which surface and body, movement and stillness, imagination and craftsmanship illuminate each other.

Bronze as a Language of Memory and Relationship

Remigiusz Dulko, born in 1955 in Lidzbark Warmiński, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and graduated in sculpture with honors in 1979. For more than four decades, he has worked with bronze and follows the creation process of his works from design to final processing. His figurative sculptures revolve around people, relationships, spirituality, and the connection between sacred and everyday life.

The traditional technique of the lost-wax process gives the bronze works a special tactile and temporal dimension. Each surface bears traces of shaping, casting, and processing. In the exhibition atmosphere of the museum, these material qualities come to the forefront and invite focused, slowed-down observation.

Painting and Sculpture as a Cultural Dialogue

Fabian Oppolzer connects his work as a painter with his work as a musician and writer. His images in the exhibition are intentionally coordinated with Dulko's bronze sculptures. The juxtaposition makes visible how art communicates beyond linguistic and cultural boundaries. The German-Polish exhibition ties into the partnership between the Dachau district and Oświęcim and continues its history in a contemporary artistic encounter.

Art History, Present, and Cultural Education

The Altomünster Museum creates a resonant space with the exhibition, where art history and the present meet. The curation directs the gaze not just at a mere juxtaposition of painting and sculpture but at the relationships between color, form, material, memory, and human closeness. Visitors experience art as an open form of exchange and as an opportunity to rearrange familiar perspectives.

Conclusion: An Exhibition that Makes Encounter Visible

Painting & Sculpture in Dialogue promises an immersive art experience between colorful imagery and expressive bronze. The exhibition connects aesthetic experience with cultural education and invites viewers to discover the dialogue of the works on-site. Anyone wanting to experience art as encounter, as a culture of memory, and as sensual work observation should definitely visit this exhibition live at the Altomünster Museum.
